Before and Almost After

Here's a shot of the house before I closed on it (in white), and here's another shot I took last night. No one is allowed to comment that it looked better before, not even behind my back.

Beautiful color! Have you thought of a brick red door?

I definitely like the "after" better. I like the color and the new windows. Nice!

I like the after better so far. What color are you going to paint the door and the trim?

Thanks everyone. The trim is going to be white, and the highlight color is a dark chocolate brown that'll be used on the door, window sashes, and porch floors. Also, I'm having them paont the slats of the attic "window" brown too.

The color isn't as peach colored in most light, but it does look that way in rhe picture.

Maybe it's camera tricks, but it looks like the beam over the porch is sagging slightly. It also looks like there's no supports where there used to be 2 more. Is it not sagging enough to bother you, or is it not sagging at all in real life? I'm not trying to offend, but I don't see any mention of it in the blog.

Good eye... there is a slight sag. I have Scott, the wonder handy-guy-construction-management-student ready to put up two rehabbed columns that I bought at an auction years ago. They've been hanging out in my shed waiting to have a new purpose in life.

They are really close in style to the existing columns, but Scott'll have to cut them down and match the trim.

Eventually I'm having wooden railings added to the front porch too.
